#1: GP02 (Stage One)

The Man of the Year, 2003

Sort of a narrative documentary about a guy who dyed his hair blonde after losing a bet and the big changes that came along.

Cinematography Style: Handheld, high contrast lighting with the play of colors (green and blue mostly), extreme angles (when unusual things happened)

Since our GP02 is still in its first stage of story development, I am now watching a lot of 'man films' to see how they portray the characteristics of a boy, a guy, a man and an old man to see if there are major differences in them or not, as our main character is a 30+ years old man with middle class background. I am also spotting how they handle crowd scenes, if our GP happens to have more than 3 or 4 characters in the house.

I have watched a few films to find inspirations, such as:-

1. American Beauty
2. Big Fish
3. Running with Scissors
4. Annie Hall

Frankly, I would like to try new things for this project, getting away from realism and try playing with extreme camera angles, composition, colors (art direction) and lighting that are appropriate for the film.

However, I would need to discuss this with my director, Ada, as she feels that she might not be able to handle this genre of films. We'll see how it goes from the first script that's coming in two weeks' time! X)
